Story

Vessel for The Bascom captures something deeper than scent — it captures process, place, and transformation.

Created in collaboration with ceramic artist Frank Vickery, Head Ceramicist at The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, North Carolina, each vessel begins in clay and fire. Hand-thrown and finished with uniquely developed, kiln-fired glazes, no two are ever alike — each one bearing the marks of heat, movement, and time.

The fragrance mirrors that same elemental journey. It opens with the quiet clarity of palo santo and mineral air — clean, grounding, almost sacred. At its heart, granite and moss evoke the stillness of rain settling into stone paths, the hush of The Bascom’s wooded grounds after a storm. As it burns, sandalwood and warm earth emerge, soft and steady, like the lingering warmth of a kiln.

This is not just a candle — it is an object shaped by hand, fire, and intention. A piece that lives equally as art and atmosphere.

Each vessel is unique. Each one tells a story of earth transformed by fire.

In keeping with the spirit of this collaboration, $1 from each vessel supports The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts, helping sustain and inspire creativity within the Highlands community.
