The Crown & Ember Collection
Crown & Ember is the signature collection of Highlands Candle Company — a line devoted to thoughtful fragrance composition and craftsmanship.
Each candle is designed as an experience rather than a product, inspired by landscapes, memories, and moments of stillness. From mountain forests and misted ridges to distant coastlines and garden paths, Crown & Ember fragrances are created to evoke atmosphere and a sense of place.
Every candle is hand-poured in Highlands, North Carolina using a premium coconut-apricot wax blend selected for its smooth finish, excellent fragrance release, and consistent burn. Small-batch production allows each fragrance to be refined carefully and poured with intention — ensuring a candle that feels personal, considered, and enduring.
The Vessel
Crown & Ember candles are poured into substantial glass vessels designed for both beauty and performance. Each vessel is paired with carefully selected cotton wicks to create a steady flame, even melt pool, and consistent fragrance release throughout the life of the candle. When the candle has finished burning, the vessel is designed to live on — easily cleaned and repurposed as a bar glass, keepsake holder, or refilled candle.

Tomato Vine — Packing Shed Woods & Black Pepper
Fragrance Notes
Top: Crushed tomato leaf, green vine, black pepper
Heart: Sun-warmed earth, cedar planks, soft magnolia air
Base: Weathered woods, warm smoke, worn leather, lingering spice
Story
Tomatopolis is rooted in the red earth and railroad tracks of Crystal Springs, Mississippi — a town once proudly known as the Tomatopolis of the World.
In the early morning hours, the packing sheds came alive. Wooden floors creaked beneath work boots. Tomatoes moved down long sorting tables beneath hanging lights and open rafters while freight trains stood waiting nearby to carry the harvest from Mississippi to cities all across America. The air held the unmistakable scent of green tomato vine — sharp, alive, sunlit — softened by sawdust, old timber, warm soil, and smoke woven into the walls over generations.
The fragrance opens with vivid tomato leaf and cracked black pepper, bright and unmistakably Southern. At its heart, weathered wood and sun-warmed earth evoke the packing sheds themselves — long summer days, open doors, and the rhythm of a town built around hard work, family, and the movement of commerce through the rail lines that once defined Crystal Springs.
Hints of magnolia air drift quietly through the composition, grounding the fragrance in memory rather than nostalgia alone. Beneath it all, warm woods, soft smoke, worn leather, and lingering spice settle into something familiar and enduring — like packing sheds glowing beneath hanging lights, freight trains rolling through town at dusk, and the unmistakable pleasure of a Crystal Springs tomato sandwich with plenty of black pepper at the kitchen table.
Tomatopolis is not simply a tomato fragrance. It is the scent of a hometown carried forward through vine, timber, smoke, and memory — a tribute to the people, labor, and Southern summers that shaped Crystal Springs for generations.
