Brand Story

Highlands Candle Company was founded with a simple purpose: to capture the spirit of Highlands and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains in every hand-poured candle. We believe fragrance is more than just a scent - it’s a way of connecting people to place, memory, and community. Each of our collections is designed not only to bring beauty into homes, but also to strengthen the bond we share with Western North Carolina through craftsmanship, storytelling, and local pride.

Our Collections

Three candle lines reflect who we are: rooted in Highlands, committed to quality, and proud to share our work with the community and beyond.

Crown & Ember

The pinnacle of luxury. Small-batch, artfully blended, and designed for boutique spaces where refinement matters most. With every candle purchased, we proudly donate $1 to the Cashiers Highlands Humane Society, helping to support the animals that bring so much joy and companionship to our lives.

A black candle container with a copper-colored lid, labeled 'Laurelwood Highlands Balsam,' placed on a textured stone surface outdoors.

Laurelwood

Everyday luxury in a larger format—inviting, approachable, and perfect for gatherings and the rhythms of daily life.

A brown jar labeled Bear Hands with a smiling bear logo, situated outdoors with mountains and trees in the background.

Bear Hands

Playful, giftable, and accessible. A souvenir-worthy line that captures the fun and charm of the mountains for travelers and locals alike.

A Note from the Founder

Highlands has been home to me for almost a decade. I grew up in Mississippi, spent 20 years in Georgia, and finally found the place that feels like where I’m meant to be - here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I’ve spent more than 30 years working in communications, retail, and finance - but founding Highlands Candle Company is the most personal work I’ve ever done. Creating it has allowed me to blend my love of craftsmanship, storytelling, and community into something I can share with others. While my family has roots in this region that stretch back generations, what matters most to me is being a part of this community today and giving something meaningful back through my work.
